I feel the way you have grown up and also, the surrounding in which you have grown up really matters a lot. If you have been born an brought up in a noisy ambiance then, the same will reflect on your personality and unwanted noise may not trouble you a lot. A minimum threshold of loudness is an important parameter for the people to come up with fresh, new ideas.

Helps You To Feel Connected: It's very important for anyone of us as a human being to feel connected to the culture, people, and the place.

However, it's not as easy as you think. You may be working in an MNC with thousands of co-workers around you and still having the feeling of being aloof.

You may not be aware of the fact that the loneliness can lead to stress and depression and it is quite evident that many software engineers face the same problem.

The feeling of being unimportant and getting neglected is something no one wants to go through, at least not me.

There is a high probability that you have gone through the same but not ready to accept the fact.

I hope this post will help you to know the dark side of yours which you know but never wanna accept.

So, what's the solution?

Well, if you use white noise in the purest form then, it will definitely help you to combat this problem. The white noise embeds positive vibes and helps you to get connected with people around you full of enthusiasm and life.

Humans are social animals and the white noise often comfort us with its presence. White noise helps us to realize that we aren't alone and the humming or the buzzing sound make you feel as if you are surrounded by something.

Fatigue And You: Fatigue is our silent friend, isn't it?
  • Overtime
  • Even though you are fully exhausted, your job demands more
  • Though you didn't have enough sleep still you have to go to the office the next morning
and, there can be many more reason for fatigue.

White noise helps you to get proper sleep. Even though the sleeping hours is less than average still you will have a feeling of a sound sleep.

Distraction free sleep helps the brain to relax properly and also, the body to heal fast.

Negative Effects Of White Noise In The Workplace

I will do injustice to this post if I will not share the negative side of the white noise. What I am gonna talk now is not confirmed yet but scientist takes it as a possibility.

For example, if you are using a white noise machine for long hours on a regular basis then, your brain may get addicted to it. As a result, you can't expect the same level of creativity or the same intensity of focus in the absence of the white noise machine.

White noise makes you feel the sense of belonging and not isolated but this isn't real. Reality is very different. If you are using white noise fan in your cubicle then, it will definitely help you to focus on your work by eliminating the sounds of your colleagues and well-wishers. So, the reality is that you will get isolated from the other colleagues. It is a high probability that you may be able to distinguish this difference but your brain will capture it.

The engineered white noise can make you feel anxious and the consequence may not be a favorable one.

If you are addicted to white noise then, in the absence of it your brain will feel uncomfortable and your action and thought process may be delayed to a great extent.

However, using the white noise machine for certain hours every day or when required can mitigate the negative effects.

In short, we don't have enough scientific evidence to come to a conclusion.

It totally depends upon your knowledge and the strategy that you follow to get the best out of the white noise machine.

Wrapping Up: The effects of white noise in the workplace

The white noise can be a helpful catalyst in increasing the efficiency of the employees by reducing the distraction and improving the focus.

White noise is relatively new and you can't classify it as good or bad.

My last advice will be to use it but with care. Be wary of the potential outcomes.
